FRIENDLY SHARKS
WHALE SHARK
The whale shark is the friendliest shark in the ocean.  They are harmless to humans and do not trouble divers.  They are huge, with mouths in the front of the head as opposed to being more on the under side of the body, like other sharks, and have a unique color pattern.  They are mostly grey with yellow spots.  Their mouths can open up to four feet wide!  The whale shark has tiny eyes, a big rounded nose, and five gill slits.  This whale also has vestigial gill slits used for breathing, and these are located behind the eye.  The whale shark is filter feeder who eats small animals and plankton.  They can be found along the equator and swim along coastlines but also in the open sea.
