Creating a Literate Environment

Setting up a classroom to meet the needs of children is important.

A comfortable room setting organized in a way children can choose to play where they want is important. It is also important to have age approppriate:

Labeling these items in the classroom invites children to ask questions or can lead to a lesson in word recognition.

A well organized room leads to physical, social and emotional growth when children begin to play with one another and participate in the days activities.

Literacy and the environment make a difference in the way children respond. Children need a space where they can learn, be creative, and self-confident.
