BANGLADESH

A World Globe
A detailed map of Bangladesh

This is a tiny country surrounded by India on all three sides except at its most south-eastern tip, where Burma becomes its neighbour. The south of Bangladesh juts out to the sea called The Bay Of Bengal.

It is a beautiful country, mostly flat except for some hilly areas on the east and covered by lush green country-sides. The land is kept fertile by two major South-Asian rivers that run through it, the Padma (Ganges) and Jamuna (Brahmaputra) Rivers. Here are some pictures of the its scenic , rural side.

AN EMBLEM Bangladesh is relatively a new country created after a liberation war in 1971 when many died for the cause of Independance. It is represented by various symbols and icons.

Bangladesh is now a rapidly developing, industrialised country. The busy capital of Bangladesh, Dhaka , smoothly combines the tradition with the new.
